3. SUBSEQUENT AUTO REPAIR AUTHORIZATION, FINAL INVOICE, AND AUTO REPAIR GUARANTEESAUTHORIZATION FOR ADDITIONAL REPAIRS: A shop is required to contact you for authorization of any additional repairs.
ADDITIONAL AUTHORIZATION BY PHONE OR VERBALLY: If you give additional authorization orally the shop must: ADDITIONAL AUTHORIZATION BY FAX OR EMAIL: If you authorize additional repairs by email or fax that must be attached to the original estimate/work order. NOTICE OF SUBLET REQUIRED: If the shop is going to sublet any work to another shop you must consent unless you could not be reasonably notified. The location of the shop where the sublet work is to be done must be disclosed upon your request. FINAL INVOICE MUST ITEMIZE EVERYTHING: Once the repairs are completed the shop must give a you a final invoice. This invoice must describe all work (including warranty work) and parts supplied. The labor and parts must be itemized separately. PARTS REPLACED MUST BE PRECISELY IDENTIFIED: The invoice must clearly state whether parts installed are new, used, rebuilt, or reconditioned. New parts must be identified by the manufacturers brand name. Any listing stating "shop supplies", "miscellaneous parts", or similiarly vague descriptions is prohibited. SHOP'S BUREAU REGISTRATION NUMBER MUST BE LISTED: The shop's Bureau of Automotive Repair (Auto Repair Dealer) license number must be on the invoice. SURCHARGE FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL PERMITTED: A shop may include a charge for the cost of lawful disposal of any toxic wastes (i.e waste engine oil) but must list their Environmental Protection Agency Number.
GUARANTEES: Any guarantee you are given must be in writing along with your final invoice. It must clearly state its duration and the parts that are
covered and what you must do in order to have your guarantee honored. All restrictions and limitations must be clearly stated and whether you are
entitled to repair, replacement, or refund. Any guarantee that is pro-rated must clearly state the basis for the any pro-rated adjustment. |
